Kansas City Livin’: Cooper’s Hawk + #allthefood

Last Sunday was my beautiful mama’s birthday, and I was lucky enough to eat cake with her on her special day.

Kansas City is only a 2.5 hour drive from Lincoln, so I left work at noon on Friday (I swear, I’m getting so spoiled by this job with our half-day Fridays), fueled up, and hopped on over to Missouri where my mom was waiting for me at our hotel for the weekend.

if you are ever in Lincoln, you must make a trip to Bagels and Joe. You can get a bagel and coffee there for like, $5.

Our weekend could be summed up shortly by two words: food and shopping. Fine by me.

Friday night was probably our finest dining of the weekend: Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant.

my entree: polenta, shrimp, and kale salad.

We also had a chocolate cake and a truffle trio for dessert, but I was #SOEXCITED I couldn’t be bothered to take a picture before stuffing my face.

The food at Cooper’s Hawk is a little more expensive than I spend on the daily, but it is SO worth it for a special occasion.

This was probably the nicest meal I’ve had in months. My tastebuds were in Nirvana.

We did a culinary walking tour on Saturday afternoon that I’ll recap later. Also tastebud heaven (of a slightly different kind).

What’s the best meal you’ve had lately?
Last meal on earth: what would it be?
I think mine would have to be filet mignon, a Cracker Barrel baked potato, roasted brussels sprouts from Sebastian’s (don’t knock them until you’ve had them), some kind of baked brie appetizer plate, and a chocolate dessert. Probably chocolate cake.

Okay, now I’m hungry.
